A static QR code encodes the destination directly into the printed pattern — once printed, the destination is permanent. A dynamic QR code encodes a short redirect URL we host; the printed pattern stays the same, but the destination it points to can be updated anytime. QR code best practices — design, print, test

A QR code is only as good as its scannability and the destination behind it. These are the rules QRLynx bakes into its design tools and recommends for every print job.

   Maintain contrast

   The QR pattern must be darker than its background, with at least a 60% luminance ratio. Light-on-dark works (inverted) but only with high-end scanners; default to dark-on-light for safety.

   Respect the quiet zone

   The white border around the code (the "quiet zone") must be at least four modules wide. Crowding it with text or images breaks scannability. QRLynx auto-protects the quiet zone when you add a logo.

   Size matters

   A QR code should be roughly 1/10 the distance between scanner and code. A code scanned from arm's length (30 cm) needs to be 3 cm wide minimum; a code on a billboard read from 20 m needs to be 2 m wide.

   Print high-resolution

   Use 300 DPI or higher for print. Use SVG when scaling for posters or billboards. The QRLynx export gives you both PNG and SVG without watermarks.

Are QR codes safe?

A QR code is just a URL in pattern form — safety depends on the destination. QRLynx hardens both layers: redirects run over TLS 1.3, data is stored encrypted with AES-256, and every dynamic destination is validated through lexical, DNS-reputation, and Google Web Risk API checks before being saved. Malicious destinations are rejected.

What happens to my QR codes if QRLynx shuts down?

QRLynx is built and operated by Jorbox LLC, which has been independently profitable since 2012. There is no acquirer, no exit timeline, and no investor pressure to wind down. If a shutdown ever became necessary we would publish 12 months' notice and provide migration tools.

Can I use QRLynx for a Wi-Fi QR code?

Yes. The WiFi QR type encodes the network name (SSID), encryption type (WPA / WPA2 / WEP / None), and password. Scanners auto-connect on phones running iOS 11+ and Android 10+ — no typing the password.

Can QRLynx generate a QR code for a vCard or business card?

Yes. Two options: a static vCard QR (the contact card is encoded directly into the pattern, works offline, never changes) or a Digital Business Card (a hosted, editable landing page with Apple Wallet and Google Wallet integration via PKCS#7 / RS256-signed JWT).

Yes. Bitcoin, Ethereum, PayPal, UPI (India), PIX (Brazil), and Venmo are supported as native QR types. Customers scan and the destination opens directly in the appropriate wallet or payment app.
